Frequently asked questions
How does this tool work?
You enter your monthly income in US dollars (USD) and the globe shows which countries have a digital nomad visa whose minimum income requirement you meet. You can also filter by minimum stay and include a partner and children. The result is always personalised: only the tool, with your income and your family situation, shows which countries are really within your reach.
What do green, orange and grey mean?
Green: the published minimum income requirement is equal to or lower than your income. Orange: the government has not published a minimum income requirement, so you need to check the official website. Grey: the requirement is higher than your income.
What is a digital nomad visa?
It is a temporary residence permit designed for people who work remotely, usually for companies or clients outside the destination country. Rules vary a lot from country to country: duration, minimum income, documents and taxation.
Is minimum income the only requirement?
No. Besides income, many countries require health insurance, proof of remote work, a clean criminal record, a valid passport and payment of fees. Use the tool as a starting point and check all requirements on the official website.
How do a partner and children affect the calculation?
When you tick partner or add children, the tool adds the extra income amount per family member to the requirement, when the country publishes it, and excludes programmes that do not allow family members. If the extra amount is not published, the country appears with a note.
Where does the data come from and how often is it updated?
The data comes from a public visa dataset based on information from official programmes. The date of the last update appears at the bottom of the tool. Because governments change rules and amounts often, always confirm on the official website.
Can I work for a company in the country where I will live?
In general, these visas are meant for remote work for foreign employers or clients, and many countries restrict working for local companies. The rule varies, so check the specific conditions of the programme you are interested in.
